Course Details
All classes are designed to build confidence (Communication) and enhance the student’s personal communication skills (working with others) encourage the student to use their imagination. The courses are practical and are all about giving the students every opportunity to be up and doing the performance not writing an assignment about it.
The students participate in a range of drama activities and evaluate their own and others’ contribution.
ALL CLASSES COVER:
* Using a variety of drama conventions to explore ideas, issues,
texts and meanings
* Find different ways to convey action, character, atmosphere and
tension in scripting and performing plays eg. Through dialogue, movement,
pace
* Appreciate how structure and organisation of scenes and plays contribute
to dramatic effect
* Discussion about the intentions of the plays in which they have
performed or watched.
THE JUNIOR CLASSES
JUNIOR is from Grade 3 – 6
Classes are for 1.5 hrs each week – for the school term
These classes are devised to bring the students together by understanding how communicate their ideas cohesively on stage before an audience.

THE SENIOR CLASSES
SENIOR is from Grade 7 – 9
Classes are for 1.5 hrs per week – for the school term
These classes are devised to encourage the students to be brave and explore and push past their limits. The group is very important and these classes offer enormous opportunities for each student to experience and work towards their potential.

THE ADVANCED CLASSES
ADVANCED DRAMA is from Grade 10 – 12 (18 years)
Classes are for 2 hrs.
These classes are devised to give opportunities for students to use the basics and build their own dramas in the most creative, innovative and dramatic manner. Students will cover a variety of style of theatre and have the skills to create character and interpret a range of play scripts. The students from this class will be encouraged to perform in the NQADA Youth Theatre Company to further develop their acting skills. These students will cover speech making and will also be given the opportunity to further their qualifications by undertaking to do a speech exam which would be included on their Year 12 certificate as a concrete measure of their competence in communication.
